100 Million Meals

Over the next 30 days more than 100 million meals will be needed in Haiti. To get more supplies to those in need. Troops parachuted pallets of supplies to a secured area outside the city on Monday.

In 1915 the US went in to Haiti to help the governmenet, something they don't want to repeat...however, Haiti would welcome a US presence even longer this time. In my opinion, which no one asks for, a presence in Haiti is needed by a country that can give guidance, help set better standards for living and teach Haitians how to survive on their own, like their neighbor the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic, unlike many Caribbean Islands, is fairly self-sufficient in growing their own vegetables, coffee, rice, meats, poultry, etc. This does two things...keeps them from begging other nations for help and keeps costs down for the people that live in the DR. It also helps with the unemployment, however, Haitian workers are usually used for the most difficult and dangerous tasks, being paid less than $1 a day for their work.

Whatever country helps Haiti, please start now. Possibly, this could be a joint effort of sevral countries, afterall, we are all one people. Right?
