What you don't want to read
Many of us are unable to comprehend what is going on in Haiti or grasp what the tv stations are reporting. But, imagine being injured so badly that you're unable to move from the street where your body landed after the earthquake. It's a dirt road, as most are in Haiti. Now, imagine laying in the streets with people walking around you, ignoring you (since they have problems of their own), seeing the planes carrying aid come and go - while you lay with no water, no food, no attention. Well, you do have some attention but not what you're looking for. Because you have open wounds you are attracting visitors such as rats eating at clothing, your wounds and your entire body. And, what the rats aren't picking at, insects crawl to your body still warm with blood and flies are biting like you've never seen before. Soon, you will be food for the dogs that run the streets...soon. Still, you pray for the planes to see you, you pray for the aide that is only 1 mile or so away to come and save you. As with most of us...prayer is what saves our souls and gives us hope. Godspeed, my dear friends next door, Godspeed.
